Sefton and St Helens showcase Neighbourhood Health Plans at national level

Sefton and St Helens have welcomed the national lead for the Neighbourhood Health Programme, to see how they’re leading the way in bringing better care closer to home and improving people’s experience and outcomes.
Both Places were announced as neighbourhood health ‘pioneers’ in September 2025.
During her visit on Thursday 15 January, Dr Bakhai visited the St Helens South Community Hub in Clock Face, which brings a range of one-to-one services together under one roof. She also heard about Sefton’s work on frailty, children and young people, those with complex lives, as well as targeted work to support those with dementia in Netherton.
A key priority of the recently-published 10 Year Health Plan, the neighbourhood programme will transform health by moving services from hospitals into communities, integrating health and social care teams and supporting people with complex needs and improving access to healthcare.
Sarah Alldis, Sefton Council’s Executive Director of Adult Social Care, Health and Wellbeing, said:
“This programme is about making health and care truly local, integrating services so people get the right support, closer to home.”
Jamaila Hussain, Executive Director of People's Services at St Helens Borough Council, said:
“We were delighted to host Dr Minal to showcase all the work we are doing as a pioneer site and showcase the close integration and partnership working we have across the borough to support the wellbeing of residents, while providing the right clinical and social care to support residents to live healthier, happier lives.”

“I’m extremely proud that St Helens and Sefton were among the first to receive neighbourhood health ‘pioneer’ status. It’s fantastic to be able to showcase the strength of our relationships between local health and care providers and our commitment to supporting our communities.”
