‘Outstanding’ rated Warrington GP Practice embarks on its social sustainability journey - as first signatory of Anchor Scheme in Cheshire and Merseyside

The Eric Moore Partnership Medical Practice, a CQC ‘outstanding’ rated practice for its pioneering services to healthcare, proudly announces its commitment to NHS Cheshire and Merseyside’s Anchor Institution Framework. This bold step marks the practice's dedication to fostering social sustainability and promoting the wellbeing of its staff, patients, and the broader community.

Established in 2000 as a new practice, the Eric Moore Partnership Medical Practice embarked on a transformative journey over two decades, creating a new amalgamated large Town Centre practice, and culminating in the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Medi Centre Warrington in 2016. Serving a diverse patient population, including some of the most deprived wards in the country, the practice's outreach extends to providing dedicated services to the homeless population across Warrington.

The practice's unwavering commitment to community engagement and proactive healthcare initiatives has garnered national recognition. Pioneering projects such as electronic booking and exemplary care programs for vulnerable groups underscore its dedication to promoting better health outcomes for all. Notably, the practice's outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission in June 2022 attests to its exemplary standards of care and commitment to equality.

Anchor institutions are organisations rooted in and connected to their local communities. They can improve health through their influence on local social and economic conditions by adapting the way they employ people, purchase goods and services, use buildings and spaces, reduce environmental impact, and work in partnership.

NHS Cheshire and Merseyside has collaborated with local communities, fellow NHS partners, VCFSE organisations, academia, and public and private sector bodies to create an Anchor Institute Charter. Charter signatories are committed to reducing inequalities, creating opportunities and promoting health and wellbeing.

Eric Moore Partnership Medical Practice places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing, ensuring that all team members have always received scales well above the National Living Wage and has, in addition, developed additional incentives to promote their wellbeing. This commitment reflects the practice's ethos of fostering a positive work environment, which extends to collaborative efforts with local authorities, voluntary sectors, and charities.

Dr Raj Kumar, who heads up the practice team said:

Information:

"We are honoured to join the Anchor scheme as the first signatory in Cheshire and Merseyside, hopefully this partnership exemplifies our dedication to improving health outcomes and influencing socioeconomic conditions for our workforce, patients, and surrounding communities."

Suzanne Parkinson heads up the practice team, and she said:

Information:

"We are delighted to be able to have a dedicated and guided pathway to support our journey in cooperating and supporting social sustainability. I am hoping that as more providers, small and large, sign up to the same, we can see the development of a social movement that will focus on maximising utilisation of existing resources, personnel, and infrastructure by networking organisations locally, to support the continuing welfare of the local community."

Eric Moore Partnership Medical Practice looks forward to leveraging its anchor institution status to drive positive change and create a healthier, more inclusive future for all.
