NHS Cheshire and Merseyside signs charter to tackle gambling-related harms

NHS Cheshire and Merseyside has become the first ICB in the country to sign the Workplace Charter to Reduce Gambling Harms, reinforcing its commitment to staff wellbeing.

Signing the Charter follows a partnership with Beacon Counselling Trust to increase awareness of gambling-related harms and provide targeted support for employees.

As part of this initiative, staff will receive training and guidance aligned with the national framework for addressing gambling harm in the workplace.

Mike Gibney, NHS Cheshire and Merseyside’s Chief People Officer, said:

Information:

“We recognise that gambling harm can have a serious impact on individuals and their families. This Charter reinforces our commitment to creating a healthy, supportive workplace where staff feel safe and able to access the help they need.”

In 2024, the North West Gambling Service (NWGS) launched its service to cover Merseyside, Cheshire and the Wirral.

The clinic’s opening, based at Mann Island in Liverpool, followed the opening of a clinic in Preston covering South Lancashire and Cumbria and another in Sheffield.
